joined today with our environmental review officer lisa gibson, our deputy environmental review officer debbie jean as well as other planning staff members. the department issued a class 1 categorical exemption for existing facilities for the project in december of 2023 following a preservation environmental review process by department staff and determined no further review was required. the project was subsequentially heard at the planning commission discretionary review hearing february 2024 where department staff maintained the project was code compliant and met the residential design guidelines and preservation criteria. overall the planning commission concured with staff findings, supportive of the project design and ultimately did not take discretionary review in a unanimous vote of 6-0. staff maintained the project is code compliant and respectfully recommend the board uphold the department determination. the projict is a alteration to existing single family residents that includes conversion of existing unoccupied basement to accessory dwelling unit and construction of 3 story
