we want safety for all and the city to thrive. i am here to comment on the city budget. despite the budget facing deficit of $807 million we have seen the police budget increase year over year with the largest budget of a city our size and what has it gotten us? countless evidence shows poverty is the biggest predictor of crime. spending more money on policing punishes people rather then soft the root cause. how much money will we have waste before we realize no amount of police spending makes people safe. we are in a budget deficit and cant affords to funnel more money to the police department especially into one that consistently overspends on the budget. have we forgotten a ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? take care of funding helt care and social service, not the cops. thank you. >> thank you for your comments. next speaker, please. welcome. >> hello supervisors. my name is vitta and i'm here as part of lavenden phoenix. born and raised in san francisco in district 3 chine atown and grew up on many public programs who funding cut and slated to be cut in

where all can be safe and thrive. we should all feel proud of our city for that and live by the values and honor sanctuary city in everything that we do. i will always hold close to my heart what my mother taught me from a very early age as we moved to the country fleeing violence in iran. she said during hard times, helping others always comes first and for the people we are honoring today they lived by that. that's why the partnership between pary var and lgbtq asylum resonates deeply for me and so many others. the collaboration forming immigrant protection embodies the spirit oflanding a hand to those facing life altering challenging times. this week i had the privilege engaging with the transjnder advocates themselves, the office of transgender initiative and seeing the new spot for the lion martin community health center very close to be completing the fundraising. commit for priorities in budget constraints and admirable. icourage incolleagues to follow suit and ceblth with transgender advocates before we enter
